Luxembourg’s hospitality sector is expanding, marked by the arrival of the first B&B HOTELS in the country.
The new three-star superior hotel, which opened on September 1 in the Cloche d’Or district, is part of a broader urban transformation that positions the area as a fully operational, mixed-use hub for both business and leisure.
The 150-room property, operated by B&B HOTELS under a 20-year lease with developer Grossfeld, reflects the chain’s ongoing expansion in Western Europe.
Already present in 17 countries, with nearly 900 establishments worldwide, B&B HOTELS’ first footprint in Luxembourg shows the country’s appeal as a strategic market for value-oriented hospitality. “This new opening not only strengthens B&B HOTELS’ European footprint but also reaffirms our mission to provide accessible, high-quality hospitality in strategic locations across Europe,” said B&B HOTELS Western Europe CEO Valerio Duchini.
Local economic opportunities
A B&B spokesperson estimated that the hotel increased Luxembourg City’s room capacity by +4%, strengthening accommodation capacity during periods of high demand. Once operating at full capacity, the hotel is expected to generate between 10 and 20 direct jobs, as well as additional indirect jobs among local suppliers and partners.
Developed over the last two decades by Grossfeld—a joint venture between Promobe and Nextensa, the Cloche d’Or offers a blend of residential, commercial, and leisure spaces. The district is home to offices of international companies, retail outlets, a shopping centre, a medical facility, and Luxembourg’s largest city park. Its accessibility is enhanced by proximity to tram lines, public transport, and major roadways, supporting sustainable mobility and convenience for residents, workers, and visitors alike.
The hotel building, designed by architect Moreno, spans seven floors above ground, with a basement level providing parking and technical spaces. Guests will find a reception hall, bar/lounge, breakfast room, meeting facilities, and a large private terrace. The property is designed to cater to a mixed clientele of business and leisure travellers.
Strategic Partnerships Driving Urban Transformation
Grossfeld, the main developer at Cloche d’Or, has shaped the district into a modern urban hub, combining housing, offices, retail, restaurants, and green spaces. Promobe, one of Grossfeld’s founding partners, has a 40-year track record in Luxembourg real estate, focusing on functional, high-quality urban environments. Nextensa brings expertise in urban expansion and regeneration, transforming spaces into vibrant, innovative neighborhoods. Together, their joint venture demonstrates how strategic partnerships can drive large-scale urban development while attracting international businesses and brands.
B&B HOTELS’ entry into Luxembourg is not only a milestone for the chain but also a testament to La Cloche d’Or’s growing attractiveness for investment and urban development.
