From junior champion to Pro Golf Tour contender, Charles Weis turned early setbacks into growth, driven by family support, discipline and a dream to elevate golf in Luxembourg.
Playing since age five, Weis qualified for the 2024 Pro Golf Tour. In his late teens, he hit a wall in development. “Life is full of ups and downs and so too is my career,” he says. Moving to the south of France, he met a new coach. “It refreshed my mind and my technique and this allowed me to grow as a player,” he recalls.
The 24-year-old credits his passion and family support. “Their help and support, driving me to training and events, and their willingness to sacrifice weekends at home in order to travel with me was key for everything I achieved so far,” he says. He won several junior titles, became Luxembourg National Champion by 14 shots in 2021, and finished sixty-seventh on his second Challenge Tour start.
Supported by the Luxembourg Golf Federation, COSL, Sigmoid Sport and sponsors, he emphasises risk-taking. “I could have continued my academic career and started a job offering security and a stable life. I believe that if I succeed, the rewards will surpass what I could have achieved through a traditional academic path.”
On golf, he adds: “I always wanted to change the wrong image of golf in Luxembourg and help it grow. I hope that I inspire people to start playing golf or younger generations to follow my path and start a professional career as well.”
