The Luxembourg-born performer has received his second Merlin Award, an international distinction presented by the International Magicians Society. He is also preparing two new projects for audiences in Luxembourg.
David Goldrake has received the 2026 Merlin Award for Magician of the Year. This is his second distinction from the International Magicians Society, following his recognition as Best European Illusionist in 2015.
The award recognises performance, originality and innovation in magic. Previous recipients include David Copperfield, Siegfried & Roy, Penn & Teller and Criss Angel.
“It is a tremendous honour to receive this recognition,” Goldrake said. “Growing up in Luxembourg, I could never have imagined that magic would allow me to travel the world, adapt to every audience and share the impossible.”
Goldrake has performed in more than 50 countries across six continents during a career spanning over 25 years. He has appeared on international television, performed at Hollywood’s Magic Castle and developed several productions for the Las Vegas Strip.
His latest Las Vegas production, An Evening of Grand Illusion, combined large-scale illusions, close-up magic and theatrical storytelling. It also featured a Water Torture Cell escape, presented as the only performance of its kind on the Strip.
A New Show for Luxembourg
Forbes Luxembourg has learned that Goldrake is developing an entirely new show specifically for audiences in Luxembourg.
The project follows the success of his 2025 anniversary tour and the demand it generated. A tour of the country’s cultural centres is planned for autumn 2027, with the participating venues and performance dates to be announced.
The production will draw on his experience in Las Vegas and on international stages while being designed specifically for the Luxembourg market.
An Educational Series on Magic
Goldrake is also preparing a comprehensive educational series on the art of magic for children and adults.
The programme will combine structured lessons with professional guidance. It will cover magic techniques as well as the creativity, discipline and presentation skills involved in developing a performance.
The series is scheduled to launch on a Luxembourg-based platform in early 2027.
Further information about the educational series and the 2027 tour will be reported by Forbes Luxembourg as it becomes available.
