MondialBox Rides Storage Wave

MondialBox opens a second site in Luxembourg, tapping into growing demand for flexible storage—“an extra room” for homes and businesses amid rising space constraints and urban living.

MondialBox, the French self-storage brand known for its “extra room for your home or office” model, has officially opened its second Luxembourg site in Cloche d’Or—cementing its ambition to make the Grand Duchy a launchpad for European growth.

Already established in Roodt-sur-Syre since 2022, the company’s expansion reflects surging demand for secure, flexible storage from both individuals and businesses. “I opened the first MondialBox center outside of France,” explains Denis Zago, head of Luxinov and franchise licensee for Luxembourg. “It was a challenge to adapt the concept to local needs—formats, systems, customer habits—all had to be rethought.”

With a background in innovative construction systems, Zago pivoted during the COVID crisis. “After 2008 and then COVID, I needed a more resilient business, immune to health or economic fluctuations,” he says. A chance encounter near Thionville led him to MondialBox: “I quickly saw it as a solution that met both personal and professional storage needs.”

“In a world where homes and offices are shrinking, MondialBox is like an extra room—freeing up space and supporting new ways of living and working.”

Luxembourg’s dynamic market—multilingual, highly mobile, and short on residential storage—proved ideal. “The market here is cosmopolitan. Unlike in France, adapting to multilingual customers and specific regulatory demands was a whole new experience,” Zago notes.

The new Cloche d’Or site offers over 400 indoor boxes in 20 different sizes, many with drive-up access. “We aim to be as flexible as possible—clients can stop anytime with 15 days’ notice,” adds Zago. “I believe we’re the only ones in Luxembourg offering vehicle-accessible storage.”

More than a consumer service, MondialBox meets real business needs: “Many startups require a physical storage location to register legally. We’re seeing strong demand from food businesses, e-commerce and event professionals.”

Looking ahead, Zago aims to open a third site and support MondialBox’s European ambitions: “Our goal is controlled expansion in countries like Belgium, Switzerland, Italy and Austria. In a world where homes and offices are shrinking, MondialBox is like an extra room—freeing up space and supporting new ways of living and working.”
